STEVE WELLMAN: Good evening, I'm Steve Wellman. Our big story tonight, the verdict is in for Michael Spencer.
FEMALE VOICE: We find the defendant not guilty of a lesser included crime of murder in the second degree.
[Cheering]
STEVE WELLMAN: The jury deliberated just three hours and acquitted Michael on all charges. Spencer never denied he shot and killed Rebecca Tatum. He just said it was an accident. Rebecca was pregnant at the time. Her family left the courtroom before the judge had finished speaking.
LEVI PEDDICORD: I have all the confidence in the world in the judicial system, but in this case right here, they were wrong.
STEVE WELLMAN: It was a wild scene there. Rebecca's mother taken out on a stretcher as you can see there. The Spencers were escorted out by cops after some of the Tatums threatened to hurt them. We'll have more reaction from the courtroom tonight at 6.
